Daniel Marques

From Rio de Janeiro, 7-string guitarist Daniel Marques recently won the greatest award in his country, the ‘Brazilian Grammy’ known as the Prêmio da Música Brasileira (2010). 
“The Brazilian Award was for my last project called Frevo Diabo Orchestra. I created that band, produced the awarded CD and directed the band, also composing and making arrangements. My new project is like a microcosm of the orchestra.”

Daniel is now releasing his debut solo album, Carnaval de Perneta (2012, Bolacha Label). This CD offers a different view of Brazilian Carnival and Folk music. Featuring all original material, the project showcases Daniel’s compositions, arrangements, production, and leadership. With a jazzy approach, including a variety of percussions and Daniel’s occasional vocalizing, Marques creates his unique sound. 

The young guitar player has been gathering enthusiastic reviews performing internationally at guitar, jazz, world music and folk festivals. Sometimes having the honour to share the night with stars such as Miroslav Vitous, Randy Brecker, Richard Galliano, Candy Dulfer, Mingus Dinasty, classical guitarrist John Williams, Paco de Lucia, Incognito… And after being influenced by all of these musicians worldwide he continues to experiment with different formats ranging from Solo to Trio and beyond.

Tiago Loei

At 16 he became a professional musician, In 2003 joined to Batucada de Bamba, group of MPB (popular brazilian music) and recording an album with the group. In this album he had honor to record together with great Brazilian musicians such as Hamilton de Holanda, Gabriel Grossi, Daniel Santiago, Renato Vasconcelos, among others.

At 2005, in order to increase professional skills, Tiago stayed in Cuba, living in the city of Havana for one year learning and studying some of the worldwide famous rhythms of Cuban music, and there he also had honor to play and jam with great cuban musicians of Rumbatere group which plays with Teresa Garcia Caturla, and the maestro Jorge Triana’s Big Band, formed by more than twenty musicians, and some of them joined or still playing with famous Cuban groups such as Cubanismo, Sierra Maestra and Irakere.

Returning from Cuba Tiago went to live in Rio de Janeiro where started to work with great musicians, composers and groups, doing theater performings, different projects and concerts. In Rio de Janeiro had honour to play with great Brazilian artists and groups such as Gilson Peranzetta, Vitor Biglione, Arthur Maia, Gabriel Grossi, Durval Pereira, Thiago do Espirito Santo, Arranco de Varsovia, Garrafieira, with some new talents of Brazilian and Rio’s music scene such as Marcel Powell, Diogo Nogueira, Edu Krieger, Nicolas Krassik, Aurea Martins, Joana Duah, Wilson Moreira, Wilson das Neves and others.
