Cecilio Perera

Winner of many prestigious international guitar competitions, Cecilio Perera is rapidly rising star, who gives concerts around Europe and America, in the venues like Carnegie Hall and others of the same importance.

Cecilio Perera was born in Mérida, Yucatan, in October, 1983.

He begun his studies on Classic Guitar at the age of 9 with his brother Pedro Perera who teached to him guitar technic, reading of the musical score for guitar and how to play exercises and studies by composers like Sor, Giuliani, Carulli, Tarrega and Brouwer among others, at the age of 12 years he already had repertoire of advanced student with works by Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Contemporary composers and he gave very often recitals in private meetings and in the schools in his native city.

In 1999 he decided to direct his life to music and entered the Faculty of Music of the Veracruz University, in Xalapa, taking classes with Consuelo Bolio and continued his studies with Alfredo Sánchez who influenced of determining and important way in his musical formation.

In 2005 Cecilio goes to Europe to know other forms to make music and by necessity of professional and musical growth, enters to the Mozarteum University of Salzburg in Austria to study the degree in Music with famous guitarist Eliot Fisk.

Cecilio had the opportunity to take master classes with well known guitarists like John Williams, David Russell, Angel Romero, Pavel Steidl, Alvaro Pierri, Remi Boucher, Ricardo Cobo, Joaquin Clerch, Stefano Raponi, Jurgen Hubscher, Hans Bruederl, Enrique Velazco, Víctor Pellegrini, Julio Cesar Oliva.
