Mikko Ikäheimo

Mikko Ikäheimo is a Helsinki-based lutenist and classical guitarist. He won first prize in the Stafford International Guitar Competition in 2003. After several years of performing as a guitarist, he shifted his focus to early music.

He studied the lute at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and ESMUC in Barcelona with Peter Croton, Eero Palviainen, and Xavier Díaz-Latorre.

Ikäheimo performs frequently with early music ensembles in Finland, and he has recorded a lute CD based on a collection of lute tablatures compiled and written down by Per Brahe the Younger (1602–1680).
